UK Veteran Game Dev Ian Richardson has Died

Ian Richardson, a UK video game industry veteran with over 30 years of experience, has passed away from what is believed to be the result of natural causes.

Ian Richardson's role in the UK video game industry started back in the 90s, where he took on senior sales and business development roles in companies like Rage, Europress, Ocean Software, and Gremlin Interactive.
At the time of his death, he served as the business development director at Sumo Digital and had helped the studio grow significantly during the six years he worked there.
During his time there, he helped develop games such as Forza Horizon 4, Forza Motorsport 7, Team Sonic Racing, and Snake Pass.
Outside of his work, he was an ambassador for SpecialEffect, a UK-based charity that aims to help people with mobility difficulties enjoy video games.In a statement sent to GamesIndustry.biz, Sumo describes Ian as "a wonderful, caring, gentle person, and much-loved industry-wide." The statement goes on to describe the outpouring of emotion on social media from his fans and friends.
Sumo's statement describes his energy and dedication for working with others, where he "was always the first to arrive and the last to leave," and always knew everyone he spoke to on his business trips.
